Glass Museum Frauenau

Art, Architecture, Presentation

Within the permanent exhibition, the foyer and the museum building art is used as a means to visualise stories and information about glass: The museum itself becomes a holistic work of art.

The museum architecture translates the upswings of glass in cultural history and the circuits of living and working with glass to the outside, into the public space of the glass makers’ village of Frauenau.

Upstairs, in the study collection and the exhibition of snuff bottles you can learn more about the wide expressive variety of glass. Changing exhibitions of modern and historical glass invite to the Glass Museum – again and again.

A project team of cultural scientists and ethnographers, architects, exhibition designers and artists were responsible for the creation of the new Glass Museum.
