Industry and Representation
The French Revolution and the Napoleonic Wars cracked the absolutistic mirrored backdrops, the shipping ways of the merchants closed up.
Now the railway trains travel on, over into newly industrialised England. Lead crystal, as it was smelted and brilliant cut in the factories, suited the taste of the new bourgeois salons. In the Crystal Palace of the first World Trade Exhibition in London 1851 glass faced up to the competition of the nations, with the participation of Bavarian Forest glass factories with their exotic luxury production. During the stylistic epochs of Biedermeier, Historism and Art Nouveau the designers, glass blowers and decorators of the Glass Works of the Bavarian Forest and Bohemia expressed the moods and the inventive drive of the 19th Century.
